Since they met in 2001, Tasha's husband has known her to be a planner. Tasha, an Alabama native, planned their destination beach wedding, and nearly 20-years later, what started as a hobby has turned to something bigger. In addition to becoming a Project Manager in her professional career, she took on planning parties and celebrations for friends and family. Though passion for playing host has never changed another blossomed, which was a deeper appreciation for the absolute best. The best food, the best music, the best entertainment, the best ambiance, the best décor, and the best event space!
One consistent frustration discovered during planning for this couple has always been the lack of attractive, intimate, and unique event spaces in the Birmingham area. This became so problematic, that venues were chosen several months in advance of any event. This was never lost on Tasha's husband, a Birmingham native with family history rooted in 4th Avenue. He knew that if given the proper event space, he and his wife could make something magic happen.
In 2015, the family purchased the former Swank Fashions building which was built in the 1940s as a retail store. Through the years, the building became a billiard hall and then a police precinct. It was during the precinct renovation that the barrel in the ceiling entry was introduced. A few ideas were tossed around for the space, and in 2022 a unique revitalization began occurring in Birmingham. This, along with consistent frustrations in seeking event spaces were the catalysts to begin the dream of the Alcove. The revitalization of the building will undoubtedly bring back the original glamour of Swank Fashions and fit well into the boon of growth that the city of Birmingham has been experiencing over the past few years.

In addition to its definition, the Alcove Birmingham provides potential clients with a space unparalleled to any other event hall in the heart of the historic Fourth Avenue District of Birmingham. Upon entrance of the facility you will be transformed by the motif of arches amid an urban oasis. The space is diverse enough to accommodate a wide range of potential clients including but not limited to corporate clients, entrepreneurs, family and friends who’d like to celebrate their loved ones for special occasions, and for couples wanting to share their wedding day.

Thank you for choosing the Alcove Birmingham! Our facility is conveniently located in the heart of downtown within the Historic 4th Ave District.
Walk in beneath the black steel beam that boasts the strikingly lit Alcove sign and celebrates the rich history of the Magic City. Upon entry, you are immediately greeted by the oil rubbed bronze barrel ceiling and stunning curved staircase which fits perfectly into the continuing motif of arches throughout the facility. A few steps beyond the entry carries you into an inviting assembly area of nearly 2,000 square feet where you will be transformed by elegant stone arches and exposed bricks beneath an attractive wooden pergola. An amazing mezzanine area also overlooks the assembly area.
